How Much Does an Alleppey Houseboat Cost?
The median private houseboat in Alleppey starts from ₹9,999 a night for a 1-bedroom Deluxe boat and ₹11,499 for 2 bedrooms, with all meals included, plus GST. These are starting rates; peak season and festival dates cost more, and our current published tariff is on the houseboat price list. Premium boats cost a median 35% more than Deluxe of the same size. Bigger boats are cheaper per head: from ₹5,000 per person on a 1-bedroom boat to ₹2,406 on a 4-bedroom boat. These figures come from the standing rates of 157 houseboats, mostly set between January and March 2026, and exclude GST and festival-date supplements.

What the Numbers Show
Groups pay far less per head
₹5,000 per person on a 1-bedroom Deluxe boat, ₹2,406 on a 4-bedroom one.
Premium adds about 35%
Measured size for size against Deluxe. Much of what that buys is air conditioning through the day, not a bigger boat.
The second bedroom is cheap
A 2-bedroom Deluxe boat costs a median ₹1,500 more than a 1-bedroom one - for double the sleeping space.
How the Index Is Built
- Source. The standing nightly rate for a private overnight stay that each boat's operator has set on Alleppey Green Tourism. It covers 157 houseboats and 227 rates, as some boats are listed at more than one category. It includes boats not currently open for booking on our site, because the index measures what the market charges, not what is bookable today.
- What a rate includes. The whole boat for one night, 12 noon check-in to 9 am checkout, with lunch, evening tea, dinner and breakfast. Rates are as listed, before GST and festival-date supplements.
- When. Most rates were set between January and March 2026. The index recalculates from live data every hour, so it moves as operators update their rates.
- Cleaning. Rates below ₹2,000 per bedroom are treated as data-entry errors and left out (3 this edition). Each boat counts once per category.
- Sample size. A bedroom size is published only when at least 5 boats contribute to it. Medians and the middle-half range are used instead of averages, so one unusually priced boat cannot move the figure.
- Not included. Shared houseboats (sold per room), day cruises and date-specific seasonal rates. We will add a seasonal figure once enough date-specific rates exist across the fleet.
